I need art ideas for teens that have been abused or neglected.?
I work with teens that have been removed from their homes due to neglect or abuse. I have lots of art projects but many of these kids could care less about sitting down and doing an art project. I was thinking about t-shirt art or graffiti inspired projects. Any ideas would be fabulous!
I’m wondering if you could work on the issue of feeling safe – maybe build houses from cardboard boxes? As big as space allows!
Choosing how they decorate, and how the protect their home will give them feelings of decisiveness and control – if you have training in drama therapy perhaps you could get them to do a little presentation about their houses… and make a safe village… and lead it into a discussion on being and feeling safe?
Sorry if that’s rubbish, it was the first thought that came to mind.
